The media library is where all your uploaded images live. Whether you need to add images to blog posts, update page photos, or just organize your files, this guide covers everything you need to know.

Getting to Media Management

From your admin dashboard, you have two media options in the sidebar:

• View Media — Browse and manage all uploaded files
• Upload Media — Upload new images

Uploading New Images

Navigate to Upload Media (`/admin/media/upload`). You have two ways to upload:

Drag and Drop

The easiest method — simply drag image files from your computer and drop them onto the upload area. You can upload multiple files at once.

Upload from URL

If you have an image URL from another website:

1. Paste the URL into the text field below the drop zone
2. Click "Upload from URL"
3. The image will be fetched and saved to your media library

After uploading, your new images appear in a grid below the upload area.

Browsing Your Media Library

Navigate to View Media (`/admin/media/view`) to see all your uploaded files.

Search and Filter

At the top of the page, you have several tools:

• Search — Type a filename to filter the list
• Sort by — Choose to sort by Date (newest first by default), Name, or Size
• Sort order — Ascending or descending
• Folder filter — Show All files, or filter by Images, Blog, or Uploads folders

Browsing

Images load 20 at a time. Simply scroll down and more will load automatically.

Getting an Image URL (Copy Link)

This is one of the most common things you'll need to do — getting the URL for an image you've already uploaded so you can use it on a page or in a blog post.

1. Go to View Media
2. Find the image you need (use search if you have a lot of files)
3. Click the image to open the details dialog
4. Click the "Copy Link" button
5. The image URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste wherever you need it

You can also click "Open in New Tab" to view the full-size image in your browser.

Managing Files

When you click an image in the media library, a dialog opens with several options:

Rename

Click the "Rename" button to change the filename. This updates the file in storage — any existing links to the old filename will stop working, so use this carefully.

Delete

Click "Delete" to permanently remove the file. You'll be asked to confirm before it's deleted. This cannot be undone.

Tips

• Image sizes: Upload images at a reasonable size. Very large images (over 5MB) will slow down your site. Aim for images under 2MB when possible.
• File names: Use descriptive filenames before uploading (e.g., `breastfeeding-support-class.jpg` rather than `IMG_4523.jpg`). This makes them easier to find later.
• Blog images: When creating a blog post, the featured image is uploaded directly through the blog editor. But if you want to include additional images within your blog content, upload them to the media library first, copy the link, and paste it into your markdown.
